ShoreTel IP Call Recording Methods

CallRex supports TAPI-based integration for call control, and calls can be recorded through either the TAPI/WAV or packet sniffing methods. CallRex takes a non-interference approach with the ShoreTel IP telephony system, providing a highly reliable solution.

There are two preferred methods to record and monitor telephone calls on the ShoreTel IP phone system: packet sniffing with TAPI, and TAPI / WAV.

Packet sniffing with TAPI -- this method uses ShoreTel's computer telephony integration (CTI) to get call control information from ShoreTel TAPI, but relies on packet sniffing to capture the audio of the phone call by sniffing the port that the ShoreGear switch is connected to within the network.

TAPI / WAV-- sometimes referred to as "ShoreTel Native Call Recording," this method uses ShoreTel TAPI/WAV ports to record phone calls. It requires that a route point be configured on the ShoreTel Director. With this method, a direct copy of the audio is sent from the ShoreTel system to the CallRex Call Recording Server.
